Aprons...

They're multipurpose! They keep my clothes clean! They have giant pockets for me to put all my crap in! They're aprons!

For my first sewing project since I was 10 and made a pair of polka-dot kullottes with my grandma, an apron. This shamefully took me two days and completely demolished our tiny apartment ( I'm a little bit messy during "craft time"), but I did it!! Next on the list: Rugby equipment bag for my honey-dear...

Nice apron. Very pretty. I have a couple of 1940s style ones that my mom has made for me. They remind me so much of the ones my grandmother used to wear when she walked up and down the rows of her gigantic vegetable garden. She's been gone a while now, but I always feel a little closer to her when I'm wearing one of "her" aprons.

igo- I love the 40's style ones. The pattern I got has a couple of others that are more difficult that I hope to try next. Such a lovely vision of your grandmother...

I LOVE IT! My husband got me a sewing machine for Christmas and seeing as how the last time I sewed anything was in my 8th grade home ec. class, I better look into some lessons. I have this dream of sewing organic cotton baby bedding (among other things) and selling it online and at our farmer's market. This stay at home mom needs something to do other than dishes and laundry!
